What we collect

Information you give us

If you use the contact form on our site (including “Book Your Review” or similar calls to action), we collect what you type in, which currently includes:

  • First and last name
  • Email address
  • Company name (optional)
  • Your message (“What can we help you with?”)

That form is hosted by Jotform. Completing it also involves hCaptcha, which helps us tell people apart from bots. Jotform sends each submission to us by email. We do not send form leads into a CRM.

If you email or call us directly, we also receive whatever you choose to send (for example your name, email, phone number, and project details).

We do not currently run a newsletter signup form on the site. If we add one later, we will update this page.

Information collected automatically

When you visit the site, some information is collected automatically through our hosting and analytics tools, such as:

  • Pages you view, roughly when you visit, and basic device and browser information
  • Approximate location derived from IP address (city or region level, not a street address)
  • Referral source (how you arrived)
  • On-site interactions our analytics is set to measure, such as outbound link clicks, clicks on our phone or email links, scroll depth, and contact-form submission events
  • Cookies or similar identifiers used by our host, CDN, and analytics (see Cookies and analytics)

We use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics for site analytics. Google Analytics measures how people use the site (usage data). It does not collect the name, email, phone number, or mailing address you type into our contact form; those details are collected through Jotform and emailed to us as described above.

We do not, on this website as currently built, use advertising pixels from Meta (Facebook/Instagram), LinkedIn, or similar ad networks, and we do not embed YouTube or Vimeo players that would load those companies’ tracking by default. We use Google Analytics for analytics only. We do not use it to run targeted advertising on this site.

How we use it

We use the information above to:

  • Respond to inquiries and book website reviews
  • Understand which pages and calls-to-action are useful so we can improve the site
  • Keep the site secure and working (including bot checks and CDN protection)
  • Meet basic legal, accounting, or security needs if they come up

We do not use your contact-form details to train public AI models, and we do not sell your personal information.

Cookies and analytics

Tools we use today

  • Google Tag Manager, provided by Google — loads and manages our analytics tags
  • Google Analytics, provided by Google — site traffic and interaction measurement (analytics only)
  • Webflow, provided by Webflow, Inc. — hosts the website and related assets
  • Cloudflare, provided by Cloudflare, Inc. — CDN and security in front of the site
  • Jotform, provided by Jotform Inc. — hosts the contact form and delivers submissions to us by email
  • hCaptcha, provided by Intuition Machines / hCaptcha — bot protection on the contact form
  • Google Fonts, provided by Google — loads some of the fonts used on the site

These services may set cookies or use similar technologies (for example Cloudflare’s _cfuvid cookie, and Google Analytics cookies). We do not currently show a separate cookie-consent banner on the site.

Project videos on the site are files we host ourselves (not YouTube or Vimeo embeds).

Opting out of Google Analytics

You can limit Google Analytics in several ways:

  • Use Google’s Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on
  • Use your browser’s tracking-protection, “block third-party cookies,” or similar settings
  • Use a content blocker that blocks googletagmanager.com / Google Analytics

Google’s own explanations of how Analytics data is used are here: Google Analytics privacy overview and Google Privacy Policy.

Jotform’s practices are described in the Jotform Privacy Policy. hCaptcha’s are in the hCaptcha Privacy Policy.

How we share it

We share personal information only with the service providers that help us run the website and respond to you — for example Webflow (hosting), Cloudflare (CDN and security), Google (analytics), Jotform (form processing and email delivery of submissions), and hCaptcha (bot checks). Form leads are emailed to us; we do not pass them into a separate CRM.

Those providers are allowed to use the information to perform services for us, under their own privacy terms.

We do not sell personal information. We do not “share” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not share it with third parties for their own unrelated marketing.

We may disclose information if we believe in good faith that we must (for example to comply with the law, respond to a lawful request, or protect the security of the site or people).

If the studio’s ownership ever changes, information may transfer as part of that business transition, still subject to this policy’s promises until you are notified of changes.

How long we keep it

  • Contact-form and email inquiries: We keep inquiry information only as long as needed to respond, work together, and keep normal business records, then we delete it.
  • Analytics data: Retained according to our Google Analytics settings and Google’s practices for that product, for as long as we need it to understand how the site is performing.
  • Server and security logs: Kept for a limited period needed for security and operations by our host and CDN.

Security

We rely on reputable hosts and form providers that use encryption in transit (HTTPS) and standard account security. No website or internet transmission is 100% secure, so please avoid sending sensitive passwords, payment card numbers, or highly confidential data through the public contact form.

We do not ask for payment card details on pencilrick.com.

Your choices and rights

You can:

  • Email us to ask what personal information we have about you from the website, or to ask us to correct or delete it
  • Decline to use the contact form (email or call instead)
  • Use browser controls and the Google Analytics opt-out described above

We will do our best to respond within a reasonable time. We may need to verify that the request is coming from you.

Washington residents

Pencil Rick is based in Washington. Our marketing site is for ordinary business inquiries and website analytics. We do not collect “consumer health data” as that term is used in Washington’s My Health My Data Act, and this site is not a health or wellness service. If that ever changes, we will update this policy.

Washington residents (and anyone else) can contact us at hello@pencilrick.com with privacy questions or requests.

California and other U.S. state privacy rights

Depending on where you live, state law may give you rights to request access, correction, or deletion of personal information, or information about our practices. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

To make a request, email hello@pencilrick.com. If we cannot fulfill a request (for example because we cannot verify it, or a legal exception applies), we will explain why.

Children’s privacy

This site is aimed at adults who run or work at businesses. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 where that is the relevant age). If you think a child has submitted information to us, email hello@pencilrick.com and we will delete it.

Links to other sites

Our site may link to client websites, maps, social profiles, or other third-party pages. Their privacy practices are their own. This policy applies only to pencilrick.com and our Webflow staging site used for development.

Changes to this policy

We may update this page when our tools or practices change (for example if we add a newsletter tool or an ad pixel). When we do, we will change the effective date at the top. For meaningful changes, we may also note the update on the site or reach out if we have your email in an active conversation.
